Karsen Murray is the founder of HypeGal, a copywriting studio that exists to help small business owners turn more of their ideal clients into actual ones through relationship-driven copy. Her studio specializes in website, email, and launch copy, but when she’s not writing you can find her binging New Girl or chillin’ in a bubble bath. Karsen is a StoryBrand Certified Guide, and spends her free time educating women on how to grow their businesses via speaking engagements, and of course, the holy grail of all platforms, Instagram stories. You can find her on Instagram or her website at hypegal.co.
Karsen Murray is the founder of Hype Gal Copywriting Studio. She helps clients “write the words that help them sell what they do, turning their ideal clients into actual clients with words.” Hype Gal covers three avenues of copywriting, which are website, email, and launch copy.
Karsen’s biggest mindset shift was realizing that “you can’t always depend on clear vision in order to keep showing up and moving to the next step in your business.” A founder’s job is to cast vision, otherwise their people perish. But even as a natural visionary, Karsen found that vision is seasonal—that on some days, your creativity is stunted. This is especially true when you’re in the middle of accomplishing many projects at once. To combat these tougher days, Karsen reminds herself to simply keep showing up at a pace that is sustainable for her. If you continue to show up regardless of how you feel that day, at a pace that keeps you from burning out, the vision will eventually catch up with you again.
One of Karson’s big goals is to make email marketing fun for everybody who finds a use for it. First of all, she considers “marketing” as nothing more than a relationship-building activity. Whichever avenue you choose to build relationships with potential clients on (ex. Instagram, podcasting, YouTube videos, etc.), having an email list is the most reliable tool that you can use to stay in touch with them, simply because, unlike on any other platform, you own your email list. Your social media accounts can be taken away from you at any time for whatever reason, so it’s never a good idea to build your database solely on “borrowed land”.
Listen in and learn how Karsen describes how she put together her team at Hype Gal and how they inspire her to be a better woman, her two preferred email marketing platforms, the two types of campaigns marketers should be doing through email, and how to write effective copy. We would love to hear your thoughts and any questions you may have can go right here in the comments! Enjoy!
