On today’s episode of the Taking Action podcast I’m chatting with styling expert Kerrie-ann jones

Kerrie-Ann Jones is a photographic interior stylist who crafts unique visual imagery for interior projects, editorial features, brand campaigns and social media content. As the former style editor Real Living magazine, K-A’s impeccable interior style and eye for trends have been significant influences on how Australians decorate their homes. She is also the co-host of interiors podcast – The House of Style podcast. Where she interviews leaders in the interiors and creative industry figures about the design journey. As one of Australia’s leading interior style experts, Kerrie-Ann is a regular contributor to global interior + fashion publications. She enjoys teaching and sharing her knowledge of interior styling through her e-course styling school ‘The Stylist Lab.’

Self-doubt is an issue that every aspiring business owner goes through. Kerrie Ann realized that the only solution to this is to put her head down and get to work. This means studying as much as she could and taking as many opportunities that came her way. By staying busy, she was able to stop herself from falling into the comparison trap for most of her early days as an interior stylist. Focus on your journey.

If you’re thinking about becoming a freelancer but don’t know where to start, you have to realize that you have something unique to offer. Kerrie Ann had countless competitors in the interior styling industry, but she understood that she couldn’t be everything to everyone. The key was to embrace her particular vision, and those who resonate with that vision will gravitate towards her. Kerrie Ann also made it a point to reach out to as many brands as possible and offered her services. You shouldn’t expect people to come to you in the beginning. It also helps to build a network with other freelancers in your industry to be able to gain a steady stream of feedback (and potential opportunities) from individuals who are on similar journeys.

Listen in and learn how you can find success as a freelancer by embracing your unique style. We would love to hear your thoughts and any questions you may have can go right here in the comments! Enjoy!
