I once heard someone say if you’re interested in buying a course or digital product from a business owner, or you’re interested in hiring them, then browse their free content to see if they are a fit for you. It got me thinking about just how powerful the content we create can be.

So today I want to share with you a simple blog post template that I use to help you write an SEO friendly blog post that connects with your audience.

Create an SEO Friendly Blog Title That Entices Your Potential Clients

When writing a blog post, you want to have a “storytelling flow” to the post, however, your title is not the place for that. Avoid using generic titles like “A beautiful love story of Jim & Karen” or “the Thing That I Love Doing the Most at the Moment”.

Titles like that are great for Instagram, however, they are not very helpful when it comes to blog post SEO, and it doesn’t really explain how it’s going to effect the potential client (remember: You want to write the blog post with them in mind).

Try changing your generic title to something descriptive like: “Joshua Tree Elopement”. A title like this helps people who are looking for a Joshua Tree based photographer for their shoot to locate you!

Remember, your title should be: practical, short and straight to the point, keeping your potential clients in mind.

Introduction

Create an introduction that is straight to the point and brings people in, in a bit more inviting way than your blog post title.

This might be something like some statistics that you’ve seen recently, facts about the location you were shooting at, or a small story relevant to the post.

Clearly State the Main Point of the Blog Post

After you’ve written the introduction, you want to clearly state the main point. This is just a small sentence restating the purpose of the blog post.

For example: In this blog post I will be sharing my top 5 tips for writing a blog post.

List your Main points (I usually aim for 3-5 points)

This could look like subheadings in bold and text under each one (just like this blog post), or a more tutorial styled blog post with a list of steps.

Whatever this looks like for you, make sure that the main points are clear for your audience. Trust me, not everyone will read your whole blog post, but if you have clear points, they can come away from the blog post still having learnt something after skim reading.

Re-State Main Takeaway Point

This will look pretty similar to your points above, however it’s just a small sentence to help re-enforce what you’re trying to teach your audience.

Include a CTA

I always suggest always having a “Pin for Later” option at the bottom of your blog post with two graphics for people to share to Pinterest.

You might also include a CTA above this “Pin for Later” section that changes depending on the blog post, or what you’re promoting

Eg. “Download my freebie“, or “hire me for your wedding”

I suggest following this basic template for every blog post so that they remain consistent and SEO friendly! If you need some more help with writing blogs, I also have this template that works you through every step the blogging workflow that I use.
