Planning in business is one of those tasks that is overlooked because it’s so easy to not prioritise it.

Once I started dedicating 15minutes at the start of each week to plan out my week, I began to feel on top of the business overwhelm.

This isn’t anything fancy, it’s just a simple practical method I use each week to plan ahead. I do this every Sunday night [or first thing Monday morning]

Step 1: Determine my weekly focus

I choose just one thing to focus on to ensure I am moving my business forward. This could be as simple as fixing up a freebie, or smoothing out your on-boarding process or uploading email templates into your gmail account, or it can be as large as a launch week. With my weekly focus, I also try to make sure it is measured and realistic, for example, ‘create a new opt-in and have 1 person signed up to it’, while this isn’t a big goal as far as sign ups, it will ensure I have created the freebie and promoted it at least once, and then another week I can focus more highly on the amount of people signing up.

Step 2: Look at any important dates

For example a birthday or a travel date or something, as this will determine the time I have to designate time slots to the tasks I need to complete for the week

Step 3: Detail my batch days

I already have my batch days sorted and detailed in my google calendar, so this step is more of a checking process and rescheduling if needed.

Here’s an example of what that looks like for my content and marketing batch day

Step 4: Ensure it’s not overwhelming

A key to productivity in my opinion is having whitespace. I ensure that I have all my batch day tasks sorted and have assigned misc tasks to certain days of the week

Step 5: Have a vague outline on my google calendar and paper version

I have only recently been using google calendar and I am LOVING it, in this step I check that my google calendar is aligned, ready to go and then I outline a rough copy onto paper as this helps get it into my head

Here’s a brief overview of what my week looks like in google calendar after planning it:
