Want to improve your instagram game? In today’s episode I’m talking with the incredible Sarah Airey as she shares her best tips for taking messy action and showing up on instagram in a way that connects. We talk about mistakes to avoid, instagram story ideas, how to convert followers to clients and how to show up on days you’re not feeling it.
Sarah is a business coach for product based businesses. After being in the trenches and scaling a successful online store herself, her passion is to help others do the same. For Instagram + marketing strategies to uplevel your business, follow @sarah.airey.co on Instagram.
Here’s the highlights:
[5.20] Sarah: We want to build a sustainable business here, we don’t want to be all about quick cash, we want to have a long term approach and so much of this comes down to trust. People buy from people that they know and trust. So it truely does make sense to nurture your community to build that trust.
[6.13] Sarah: People aren’t sharing content that goes deep enough!
[7.12] Sarah: We need to truely understand the power of social media, and the power of Instagram. I think when we realise that power, it does shape the way that we show up.
[7.43] Sarah: I think that our content needs to cover two general categories, these categories for sure are split into sub-categories, but in terms of these two broad categories I almost see them as educational content (problem solving) and the “best friend” category where we are going to build connection with our audience.
[13.37] Sarah: We need to realise that sharing the mundane is totally ok.
[13.55] Sarah: Literally, picking up your phone, speaking face to camera for a few clips, sharing a quick how to. And as you mentioned, coming in straight away with “Hey guys, I want to share how to…” so that people know what you’re sharing so that you’ll stay. You’ll want subtitles too, of course.
[14.35] Sarah: Keep things [your content] fresh constantly.
[16.50] Sarah: Identifying a few key traits, something unique to you, and bring that through to your Instagram stories is another great idea.
[17.45] Sarah: Another important thing on Instagram stories is to have flow, just as a movie or a vlog has flow, it has sequence or chronological order, we also want our Instagram stories to have a sense of flow so that people feel like they are journeying our day with us.
[19.10] Sarah: We do not want to be paralysed by perfection, that is so important. We need to keep moving, and keep creating content.
[32.00] Sarah: We seem to forget on a daily basis that being productive makes us feel good. So if you can find “that thing” that you can do that might not necessarily move the needle, but at least you’re getting your feet wet. That is going to create some momentum and shift your headspace and allow you to go deeper into your business and do those things that actually do move the needle. You’re just easing yourself into it by first identifying that thing that fills your tank.
