This week on the podcast we have Madison from Keeping the Creativity. Madison is an incredible Virtual Assistant for a variety of business owners in the creative industry. In this episode Madison shares her best tips for preparing for a VA including how to know what to outsource, when to outsource and how to run a team meeting. If you’ve been thinking about outsourcing, this episode will help you.
Here’s the highlights:
[2.19] Madison: I’ve had to learn, that especially when it comes to business, you’re not going to be everyone’s cup of tea.
[2.43] Madison: That’s why niching in your business is so important, finding your lane and finding your people. That’s something that I’ve had to learn. When I first started I was kinda serving anyone and everyone who needed remote online support. It was kinda draining for me, not only having a wide net cast, but also just doing so many different things that weren’t necessarily things that I enjoyed or loved.
[5.12] Madison: I don’t have to work myself into the ground to be successful.
[8.08] Madison: I think a practical way to really see the scope of your work and be prepared to outsource down the line is to get a really clear on what your spending your time on in your work week.
[16.21] Madison: You can use that freed up time to evaluate the current state of your business and get serious about where you want to go.
[19.50] Madison: I’d recommend having an audit of your work week, whether that’s time tracking or just creating a brain dump of a list of all the things you want help with. This is really helpful because this list that you created is going to help build your job description. It’s great for the interview process to help set expectations from the get go.
[20.13] Madison: I think that another thing that people really need to realise is that finding someone who is coachable or trainable is a super awesome thing as well. A lot of people might not necessarily afford someone at a super high price point, but if you have the right attitude and the right person, and you’re prepared to record that loom video or write down the step by step processes in a google doc, whatever you can to prepare them for how they can best help your business.
